Violin strings range from $20 100 for the set dnidnepeg on the quality. Those $100 violins you see advertised have strings worth around $3 and they are really bad. A bow worth buying will cost $40 and up they can cost many thousands. Cases (you don't want a bag for a violin) start around $40. It really depends on the quality of the violin that you have as to if it is worth putting strings on or getting a new violin. There can be many hidden problems with an old instrument and without seeing the instrument or at a minimum knowing what the brand is, it is impossible to give any additional help.
